HE PLACED ME THERE

He knew me when I was first conceived,
Each finger and each toe,
Although they were not yet well formed,
He knew the way I'd grow.
There was a plan for my life alone,
It was superb and just for me,
He loved me in my mother's womb,
For He placed me there, you see!
He saw the days of sheer abuse;
He heard my mother's cry!
Oh, how He tried to make her see
That I should live-- not die.
Voices rang out and called for death,
But surely I'd done nothing wrong
Midst shadows dark my mother walked;
Yet my soul felt no alarm.
Then one day as I lay asleep,
Content and growing well
I felt a sharp and stabbing pain,
My mouth gave forth a yell!
I didn't know just what it was
My voice just didn't count!
I tried to dodge the cold, sharp tool
But its presence sought me out.
I cried and yelled oh yes, the pain
I felt full well, you know.
But mother laid so very still
As it searched my private home.
At last, the pain was ended
The screaming was no more!
A calm assurance flooded me
With peace and love once more.
I felt strong arms around me,
A kiss planted on my head
When I looked up, 'twas Jesus,
Who had raised me from the dead.
And though my mother killed me,
I love her just the same
And pray that one day she won't cry
Because I never got a name.
I want to tell her it's okay
I'm safe within God's care;
I see her as she weeps and wishes
Her little one was still there.
I would have liked to run and play
The earth my soul to roam,
But I'm with Jesus, and its okay
Cause this is my eternal home.
I'd like to speak to mothers,
Who have babies just like me
I'd like to tell them, it's not a mistake!
That they should let life be!
Just give their little ones a chance
To live, and learn, and grow,
I'd like to speak to mothers
Cause God placed them there, you know!

He Placed Me There brings you these weekly Bible verses:

Psalm 5:4-6

To the Chief Musician. With flutes.

A Psalm of David.

 4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,
         Nor shall evil dwell with You.
 5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
         You hate all workers of iniquity.
 6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood;
         The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
